How to Read Your Bill

Making Understanding Your Energy Bill Simple

We know that monthly energy bills can often be complex and difficult to understand and leave you with a lot of questions. For XOOM Energy customers, we want to help make understanding how your energy bills work easier and less stressful.

XOOM Energy is one of the largest energy retailers in North America, and because of that, we service customers in markets with a few different types of billing methods. Regardless of which state you live in your local utility will continue to deliver your energy to your home, service transmission lines and respond to emergencies.

To help you better understand your billing method, we have provided an explanation of each type below. You can find your state’s billing method by reviewing the grid at the bottom of this page.

Direct Bill

For XOOM Energy customers who live in a Direct Bill utility, you will receive your bill directly from XOOM Energy. Your local utility will read your meter on a specific date and provide XOOM Energy with all utility charges, which consist of transmission, distribution, taxes, etc.

XOOM Energy will then consolidate the utility charges along with our supply charges into one bill that you will pay directly to XOOM Energy. Monthly bill payments can be made directly to XOOM Energy by visitingxoomenergy.com/en/my-account. Once your payment is made to XOOM Energy, we then forward the utility portion of your bill to your local utility to satisfy the utility charges. To make paying your XOOM Energy bill simple, you can sign up for Auto Bill Pay when you log into your account and supply the requested information.

If you live in a Direct Bill state, you can find your state in the list at the bottom of this page and click on XOOM Energy sample bill to see an example of the bill you will receive from XOOM Energy.

Dual Billing

XOOM Energy customers who live in the SoCal Gas and San Diego Gas & Electric markets will receive one bill from your local utility for the utility charges, which consist of transmission, distribution, taxes, etc. You will also receive a bill from XOOM Energy for the supply portion. With Dual Billing, you will remit a payment for the utility charges directly to your local utility and a payment to XOOM Energy for the supply portion. To pay your XOOM Energy bill you can visit xoomenergy.com/en/my-account. To make paying your XOOM Energy bill simple, you can sign up for AutoPay when you log into your account and supply the requested information.

If you live in a Dual Bill state, you can find your state in the list at the bottom of this page. To see an example of your Utility Bill, click on your local utility. To see a sample of your XOOM Energy bill, click on the XOOM Energy sample bill.

Utility Consolidated Bill

Most of the XOOM Energy service areas billing method is Utility Consolidated Billing. In these states, the local utility reads the meter on a specific date and then provides XOOM Energy with your usage data so we can calculate the energy supply charges. Once the energy supply charges are calculated we provide this information back to your local utility to be presented as the “Supply Charge” portion of your monthly energy bill you receive from your local utility. You will make the payment for your energy bill to your local utility and they will forward XOOM Energy the amount owed for the supply charge portion of your bill.

If you live in a Utility Consolidated Bill state, you can find your state in the list at the bottom of this page. To see a sample of the bill provided by the utility, click on the link for your local utility.
